We build custom drums in wood for drummers that want the complete freedom to musically express themselves, creating their own unique sound and look. After several years of experimenting with drum sounds and gaining an understanding of what influence pitch, tone, attack, sustain and usability, the decision was made to start Custom Drums in the UK.
ETHOS
We specialise in making drums from wood for the simple reason that we like wood. The natural tones that you get by combining different wood types and the direction of the grain enables you to fine tune the drum sound for specific uses. The finish is greatly enhanced by the inherent beauty of wood, producing a unique look that stand out.
We try to interfere as little as possible with the wood shell to retain maximum tonality. That is why we advocate the use of dual lugs with a single attachment. For the finish we use 100% Tung Oil which produces a hardwearing surface with a satin look that can be improved upon over time if required.
